Thermo Electron Corp. has announced the launch of its new iCAP 6000 Series, featuring ICP emission spectrometers, the iCAP 6300 and the iCAP 6500. These instruments are specifically suited to the needs of general and elemental analysis laboratories in the environmental, petrochemical, metal, food and beverage, geo-chemical and cement industries. Thermo’s iCAP 6000 Series is equipped with a high power, solid state RF generator capable of handling all sample types. The ergonomic design of a large 270o door allows unrestricted access to a large sample compartment and peristaltic pump, while the inner enclosure has a large viewing window for observation of the plasma. A core part of any ICP spectrometer is the detector. The iCAP 6000 series’ RACID86 fourth generation Charge Injection Device detector offers non-destructive readout, and allows high intensity signals to be read very rapidly while lower intensity signals are accumulated over a longer time, ensuring optimum signal to noise and resistance to saturation. The RACID86 detector allows selective Region Of Interest and true random access pixel address, which shortens analysis times and improves sample throughput.
