PECD Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary, Peremba Construction Sdn Bhd, has won a USD 232 million contract to construct marine export terminal facilities for the Melut Basin oil development project in Sudan. The contract was awarded by Petrodar Operating Ltd. The marine export terminal, located in the Port of Sudan on the Red Sea coast, is under joint venture projects owned by a consortium comprising China National Petroleum Co. International Ltd (Nile), which has 41% stake in the venture, Petronas Carigali Overseas Sdn Bhd (40%), Sudapet, Sudan (8%), Sinopec International (6%) and Al Thani Corp, UAE (5%). Petrodar is the appointed operator for the exploration and exploitation as well as the transportation and export of crude oil in Blocks 3 and 7 in Sudan. Peremba, leading a consortium comprising Intec Engineering (SEA) Sdn Bhd and Sudan Piles for Road and Bridges, is the main engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contractor for the marine export terminal. The terminal will handle the delivery and export of crude oil through a 1400km 32-inch diameter crude oil pipeline from the central processing facilities. It will have up to two million barrels of oil per day (bopd) of export capacity and an estimated storage capacity of 3.2 million bopd. The fast track project, which commenced this month, is due for completion in December. The terminal’s facilities include crude oil storage tanks, fuel tanks, service tanks, power generator, drinking water system, other utilities systems, control room, systems for heating, de-waxing, affluent, control, fire fighting, drainage, metering and ship loading.
