India institutes new NID chair

The National Institute of Design (NID) and Jindal Stainless Ltd, an integrated manufacturer of stainless steel, have instituted a Jindal Stainless Chair for Research & Product Innovation at the NID campus in Ahmedabad, India. The task of the faculty of NID is to provide a holistic design synthesis in materials and product systems. This will now be backed by comprehensive research and a futuristic vision for the application of stainless steel in various products and systems. The Chair will engage in design – led research to establish the relationship of stainless steel as a material and form to various products and systems, including traditional forms and craft products. Nominations and applications for this chair are being invited from both national and international professionals with the required background and profiles. A distinguished selection panel comprising internal as well as external experts will select the candidate from potential applicants.
