India: stainless expansion

Jindal Stainless Ltd plans to set up a greenfield project at Dubri in Orissa with an investment of Rs 950 crore. The project would produce 1.5 lakh tonne ferro chrome, 30,000 tonne ferro manganese, 60,000 tonne silco manganese and three lakh tonne coke oven battery. – The company also plans to increase the manufacturing capacity of its plant at Hisar in Haryana with capital expenditure of Rs 293 crore. Capacity would increase from four to five lakh tonne, steel melting capacity from five to 5.5 lakh tonne and that of cold rolled strips from 90,000 tonne to 1.5 lakh tonne.
