The International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) has announced that Ratan Jindal will succeed Professor Jef Roos as Chairman of the ISSF Economics and Statistics Committee. The appointment is expected to be formally approved by the Committee in February 2004. Professor Jef Roos has served as Chairman of the ISSF Economics and Statistics Committee since 1996. He is the longest serving committee chairman in the history of ISSF and IISI. Professor Roos was also one of the founding members of ISSF (as representative of ALZ). Professor Roos retired as Chairman of UGINE & ALZ on 1 October 2003. He will formally retire from the Economics and Statistics Committee in February. Professor Roos built the activities of the Economics and Statistics Committee to a point where it required a full-time director. Peter Kaumanns was appointed ISSF Director of Economics and Statistics on 1 July 2003. Ratan Jindal is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Jindal Stainless Limited, India. Mr Jindal will lead the Economics and Statistics Committee in its ambition to make ISSF the leading forum for global stainless steel statistics.
