French oil company Total has agreed with India’s third largest refiner Hindustan Petroleum Company Ltd to build an underground storage terminal for LPG in the eastern part of the country, where demand for the fuel is rising. Total did not disclose the value of the agreement. South Asia LPG Ltd, jointly owned by the two companies, will build and run the import and underground storage terminal for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) set to be the largest on India ‘s east coast at Visakhapatnam, in Andhra Pradesh. Construction will begin in 2003 and the commercial start-up is slated for the third quarter in 2006, Total said.
