Air Liquide Hangzhou has announced the signing of a contract with China Petrochemical International Co for the construction of a large air separation unit to supply the Sinoec Jingling Co chemical complex in Nanjing. This plant, with a capacity of 56,000 m3 of oxygen per hour, is part of a new complex using coal or oil residues gasification to produce syngas. The customer will use the syngas to produce fertilisers (800,000 tpy). Hydrogen extracted from the syngas will also be used in an adjacent Sinopec refinery. Designed and delivered by Air Liquide Hangzhou, the unit is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2004. The new unit will allow the customer to replace the naphtha currently used with coal or oil residues.
