Algerian gas turbine

Alstom has won a contract for a GT10B industrial gas turbine for mechanical drive application. The order was placed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) of Yokohama, Japan, acting as EPC contractor on behalf of Sonatrach, the Algerian state-owned oil & gas company. The GT10B turbine, with a capacity of 34,100 shp (shaft horse power), will be used for gas compression, driving a Mitsubishi compressor at the AEGR (Algerian Edjeleh Gas Recovery) station in the Edjeleh gas field in eastern Algeria, 70 km SE of In Amenas and some 2000km south of the capital, Algiers. The GT10B will be manufactured at Alstom’s industrial turbine facility in Finspong, Sweden, whence it is due for delivery in the spring of 2004. During the last fiscal year, Alstom has received over 55 orders for the GT10B in mechanical drive applications.
