Echeng starts up bloom caster

Echeng Iron and Steel, Hubei Province, China, has started up its new 4-strand, 10-metre-radius bloom caster for the production of specialty steel. Supplied by Danieli, the new caster has enabled Echeng to replace its traditional ingot casting production route with a modern and efficient tool to better serve its production requirements. The caster’s main features are electromechanical stopper rod, submerged nozzle stream protection, mould lubrication powder automatic feeding, external mould stirrer and four-zone combined water/air-water secondary cooling system. The outfit cast sections are 150×150 mm, 200×200 mm and 150×245-mm in low and high-alloy steel grades, with a productivity of up to 125 tonnes/hour.
