Chicago Bridge & Iron Company NV, through its subsidiary Howe-Baker International, has won a contract from Valero Energy Corporation to design and build a 53,000 bpd gasoline desulpuhrisation unit at Valero’s 243,000 bpd refinery in Texas City, Texas, USA. The unit will use CD HYDRO / CD HDS catalytic distillation technology under license from CD TECH to reduce the sulphur content of gasoline feedstocks, thus enabling Valero to better comply with US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 2 gasoline specifications. Howe-Baker is executing the project on a lump-sum turn-key basis, including engineering, modular fabrication and construction. The project has a value to CB&I of more than USD 60 million. Mechanical completion is expected in late 2003.
