New blanking line for Franklin

Franklin Stainless Corp., Port Washington, NY, USA recently installed a new blanking line for the production of close tolerance blanks. The new line, supplied by Red Bud Industries of Red Bud, Ill., is capable of processing stainless steel coils up to 60 inches (1524 mm) wide, 0.135 inch (3.43 mm) thick, and weighing up to 30,000 pounds (13608 kg). The line also features Red Bud’s servohydraulic grip feed system, with specially designed gripper pads that process surface-critical material without marking. The system is capable of producing blanks with length tolerances of ±0.005 inch (0.127 mm). The new line also includes a coil lift; reel with traversing base; peeler breaker; Herr-Voss leveler; roller inspection area; thread system; shear; drop stacker; and automatic lowering stack table with dual chain side discharge rollouts.
