Clough wins gold project in Mongolia

The Clough group has been awarded a A$46 million (US$25 million) contract to design and construct a 1.75 M/tpa gold processing plant 120 kilometres north of the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, and within 5 kilometres of the main sealed road connecting Mongolia and Russia. The contract has been awarded by AGR Limited, the leaseholders of the mine site at Boroo. The project includes the dismantling of an existing gold processing plant in the Western Australian goldfields region and shipping key components to Mongolia via China, as well as undertaking the design of the plant, parts refurbishment and on-site construction. The Clough group has previously worked on remote location gold projects in countries such as Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, plus had extensive experience throughout Australia and Indonesia in mining work. The work on the Boroo project begins immediately, with shipping of the plant from Australia planned for mid 2002 and completion of the gold plant in Mongolia scheduled for third quarter, 2003.
