A new oilfield, named Xifeng, was recently discovered in East Zhiyuan in the province of Gansu, NW China. The oilfield’s total reserves are estimated at 24 million tons and stretch over an area of more than 100 square km. The discovery was made by the Changqing Oil Company, one of the leading oil and natural gas providers in NW China. Seven wells, scattered through the Yima, Xiongjiamiao and Baimapu Townships, have produced oil since the end of 2001, Zhongguo Nengyuan Qingbao Wang reported. In recent years, Changqing Oil has discovered several oilfields in Gansu Province, of which those in Heshui, Zhenyuan and Ningxian Counties are the largest.
