N. Vietnam power plant

Construction works for the USD 121 million Na Duong thermo-electric power plant will start next month. A contract for the main bidding package, capitalised at USD 106 million, was signed between the Vietnam Coal Corporation, Japan’s Marubeni group, and the Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation, in Hanoi on 8 March. The contract covers the installation of two turbine groups each having a capacity of 50mw. The Na Duong coal-fuelled power plant, in Lang Son province, will generate 780 million KWh for the national grid annually. The plant’s first turbine group will be commissioned in April 2004 and the second, three months later.
