AvestaPolarit’s Coil Products reorganises

AvestaPolarit has announced a three-stage reorganisation of the AvestaPolarit Coil Products businesses in the UK, which will result in: a commitment to secure the in-house ferritic process route by investing GBP 0.5 million in the recommissioning of batch annealing technology at the Sheffield plant; closure of the Panteg Warehouse and the consolidation of the warehousing and associated processing activities into the Trade Centre facility at
Sheffield, within the existing manned capacity; and integration on to the Sheffield site of various administrative functions which support the local Panteg Wide Strip Mill process.
This business reorganisation will result in manning at the Panteg plant being reduced by 44 jobs, comprising 24 blue collar and 20 staff/management positions, reducing the local workforce to around 110 employees. Management intends that these reductions will be implemented by the end of July 2002.
