Sandvik Steel has announced that it has received a large order to supply reheater tubes to AES Drax Power Station for refurbishment work to be carried out during the spring outage beginning April 2002. The order, valued in excess of GBP 200,000 is for 63.5mm outside diameter tubes to be supplied partly to the fabricator and partly direct to Drax during March 2002. The specified material grade is BS 3059 215 S15 (Esshete1250) – a nickel chromium steel designed for use at high temperatures and in highly corrosive environments. It is an alloy which has proven and good service performance in many UK and European power stations.
