Pharma complex for Addis Ababa

A new pharmaceutical complex, valued at USD 120 million, is being built on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Pharmacure has awarded the contract for the construction of the facility to WHBO of South Africa in a joint venture with Midroc Construction of Ethiopia. With a maximum height of four stories, the project is comprised of a number of concrete-framed and concrete-infill buildings. The buildings will contain a penicillin block, a large general production area, and a general service complex. The joint venture will also handle associated civil engineering works including a sewage processing plant. Equipment has been flown into Ethiopia from Europe, South Africa, and other sources for the project, which is on track for completion in 2003.
