49th Chem Show attracts thousands to New York

Despite the troubled economy and the 11 September terrorist attacks, the 2001 Chem Show attracted close to 16,000 CPI professionals (some 10,000 registered attendees and over 6,000 exhibitor personnel) to its 49th exposition and conference on 23–25 October in the Jacob Javits Convention Center, New York. According to show management and interviews with many of the exhibitors, although traffic was down from previous years, the industry professionals who made the trip to New York were highly motivated.
This year’s show featured approximately 850 exhibitors showcasing the latest innovations for the chemical process industries over the 170,000-sq-ft of exhibit space. It is also one of the oldest trade shows in existence, having been held regularly in New York since 1915.
