SMS Demag has been awarded a contract by ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali in Terni, Italy, for the supply of a new 20 roll cold rolling mill for the production of stainless steel strip. The scope of supply includes a 20 roll mill stand of MonoBlock design, two reversing reels with 600 knot maximum strip tension and an uncoiling station for minimizing non productive times. Also part of the order are the design, manufacture, erection and commissioning of the mechanical components, including auxiliary systems such as hydraulic, rolling oil and fume exhaust systems. The 20 roll mill stand is designed for a maximum rolling force of 16,000 knot and a rolling speed of maximum 800m per minute. The mill will produce stainless steel strips of the grades AISI 400 and AISI 300 with high surface qualities.
