A steel belt system based on a stainless steel machine frame or optionally aluminium and complete with motion control, tracking, and tensioning components is now available from Belt Technologies Europe. The belt itself may be perforated or plain stainless or carbon steel, up to 1000mm wide and is also available with custom attachments, coatings or tooling nests. A fixed, adjustable or combination rail is provided and there is a choice of stand types: pedestal, H style, fixed adjustable, horizontal, incline with floor attachments or castors. The motor mount can be above, below or beside the conveyor frame. Achievable speeds can be varied to suit almost any application and there is an optional auto-track system that monitors belt location continually to provide side-to-side belt positioning. Timed belt and pulley features are also available. Some electrical options include 115/230V AC or 90V DC single or 3 phase supply. The solid stainless steel or carbon steel belt materials are virtually unstretchable and have a high strength-to-weight ratio. Capable of withstanding harsh temperatures or chemical environments, the system gives adequate clean-room capability typically in the food, pharmaceutical and more frequently in packaging sectors. Steel belts are commonly used in packaging applications due to their cleanliness properties making them suitable for food handling, heat sealing and aseptic bottling lines.
