ОМК chooses Strabag for Chusovoy complex

United Metallurgical Company (OMK) and Strabag signed a contract for construction and installation jobs for one of OMK’s most important projects, the construction of a complex to produce seamless premium class oil and gas pipes in the town of Chusovoy in the Perm Krai.

OMK already has considerable experience in implementing wide-scale projects with this company. In 2008–2011, Strabag acted as the general contractor for the construction of Heavy Plate Mill 5000 at Vyksa Steel Works. “By signing the general contractor agreement, we have finalised the main contract package for making the currently largest investment project in Russian metallurgy a success. Strabag will join our partner team for the Chusovoy project, which already includes Danieli, Siemens and Magnitogorsk Gipromez. I sincerely believe that this highly professional team will use all of its colossal experience and rich traditions to successfully solve the task of constructing the newest integrated Pipe and Steel-Melting Complex”, said OMK President Vladimir Markin.
